About Emily

Emily McElarney is a mum of three beautiful children, all of whom were birthed in Dublin maternity hospitals.

She is a huge advocate of informed choice and of promoting the normalcy of physiological birth.  Empowering mums and dads-to-be is hugely important to Emily, and her goal in classes is always to help couples empower themselves to make informed choices around the birth of their children.

A FEDANT approved and accredited antenatal educator, Emily became a certified Hypnobirthing® The Mongan Method practitioner in 2012.  In 2015 she trained as an instructor of The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme, a fully comprehensive antenatal and hypnobirthing course with a focus on having 'the right birth on the day', no matter what path that birthing takes.

A qualified and accredited yoga teacher, Emily teaches pre-natal yoga and postnatal mum & baby yoga in locations around Dublin including in Rush, Balbriggan and Dublin City Centre.  She also teaches active birthing workshops, positive birth preparation workshops and breastfeeding preparation workshops.

Emily is also a fully trained and certified SBD; Birth and Bereavement Doula.  She is available to support and companion families through pregnancy loss and perinatal bereavement.

In 2018 Emily trained as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor with the IAIM and she is accredited to Baby Massage Ireland.

In 2019, Emily returned to full-time education to study for a degree in Applied Social Studies and hopes to eventually bring her work around pregnancy, birth and early parenting to the field of social care and family support.

A former journalist, Emily currently contributes to media discussion on birth and normalcy of birth on a regular bases.  She writes for several publications on birth, birth preparation and infant bonding and engagement.
